Iron Mountain Announces EMC Centera Certification

Joint Customers Benefit from a Reliable and Scalable Storage Solution that Speeds Data Recovery and Lowers Costs

March 29, 2005

Boston, MA - Iron Mountain Incorporated (NYSE:IRM), the world’s trusted partner for outsourced records management and data protection services, announced that its Connected DataProtector/PC™ solution has achieved EMC Centera certification via independent testing with EMC Centera content addressed storage (CAS) through the EMC Centera Certification Program. Together, DataProtector/PC and EMC Centera provide organizations with a reliable, cost-effective way to automatically protect corporate data on desktops and laptops and quickly access this back-up data in the event of any business disruption.

Even among businesses that already have data protection programs in place, distributed data on laptops and PCs is often left unprotected – with up to 60 percent of corporate information at risk. Connected DataProtector/PC is the market-leading solution for automatic desktop and laptop data protection and user-friendly data restoration.

“As a member of the Centera Partner Program, Iron Mountain is strengthening its commitment to smart data storage,” said John Clancy, Executive Vice President of Iron Mountain’s Digital business unit. “Our customers turn to us for backup and recovery solutions that ensure compliance with data storage regulations and substantially reduce storage requirements and IT costs. With EMC Centera Certification, we can proudly offer a powerful, end-to-end storage solution that combines the superior data protection and storage capabilities of Iron Mountain with the fast online access and petabyte scalability of EMC Centera.”

Ultimately, this integrated solution allows customers the raw storage capacity and performance necessary to protect and manage data from tens of thousands of corporate PCs.

This certification ensures that Connected DataProtector/PC interfaces effectively with EMC Centera, thereby increasing customer confidence, enhancing customer satisfaction and reducing technical support costs. To achieve EMC Centera Certification, Connected DataProtector/PC underwent a series of rigorous tests to validate functionality and performance requirements as stipulated by EMC, including compatibility with basic Centera capabilities; raw transfer speed, single-instance storage; and compliance, retention and technical support standards.

“Each year, more information is being created and digitized, and businesses need a simple, scalable and secure method of storing and retrieving this fixed content online,” said Roy Sanford, Vice President of Content Addressed Storage at EMC. “With Connected DataProtector/PC becoming EMC Centera Certified, businesses – both large and small – have a new level of assurance that they have access to high-quality, cost-effective and easy-to-manage data protection.”
